Terms, age and privacy
What you agree to
Draft for approval. Not yet in force.
You must be 18 or over
Smritis is for people aged 18 or over. When you make an account or take an invitation, you confirm that you are.
If you record what someone else remembers, ask them first, and tell them who will hear it.
Your memories stay yours
What you say and add belongs to you. We use it to run Smritis for you: to write it down, keep it, and help you shape it.
We make nothing from your story unless you ask. If you tick “share them with the Smritis production team”, we still ask you before anything is made.
Who sees what
Your own digs: only you.
When you take an invitation to a group: only the person who invited you hears your voice notes and sees your photos. The others see how many people have answered, not what they said. That person may then publish a story made from what people added, and everyone who joined can read it, including people who join after it closes.
When someone invites you to tell your stories: that person hears your full recordings and reads their summaries.
A story you share by private link can be read by anyone who has the link, until you stop sharing it.
Privacy: where it is kept, and what leaves
Your recordings are kept on Smritis’s own servers in India, under your account.
Some work is done by outside services, which get only what they need. A speech service gets your voice, to write it down. AI services get your words, for the coach, your Engrams, summaries and your story.
For each memory in a Quick Dig journal, an image service gets a short topic with no names, to draw its one-line sketch. Pictures for questions come from our own library, so nothing about a question goes out.
We do not sell what you add, and we do not let it be used to train AI.
To confirm: the names of these services, and how long each keeps what it receives.
Smritis is not therapy
Smritis is for reflection, not therapy. Some memories are hard to go back to alone. In distress? Call Tele-MANAS on 14416, free, day and night.
Your part
Add only what you have the right to share. Do not use Smritis to harm anyone, or to add what the law forbids. We may close an account that does.
Payments
Payments are made only on smritis.in, through Razorpay. People you invite never pay.
To confirm: refunds, and what happens to a dig when a plan ends.
Deleting and leaving
You can delete a dig. To close your account, write to us.
To confirm: how long deleted recordings and stories stay in backups.
Changes, and who we are
If these terms change, we tell you before the change takes effect.
To confirm: the company’s legal name and address, and which courts and law apply.
